In recent years, the global financial technologies market has firmly secured its place as a leading destination for venture investment. In the last five years, investment in the industry has surged, from $2 billion in 2011 to $18 billion in 2016. Some estimates suggest there are nearly 10,000 FinTech startups in the world, and that their number is growing continuously. Nevertheless, FinTech representatives say that the growth of the industry is slowing, that new technologies are gaining popularity only slowly, and that traditional banking has not been fast enough to implement the new tools created by FinTech companies. What is happening to the industry now? What are the main trends of FinTech’s global development, and what are the unique features of Russian FinTech? How does traditional banking interact with FinTech in Russia? And what are the near-term prospects for the industry in Russia? The 1st International Conference on new financial technologies, organized by Vedomosti business daily, will unite representatives of big business, government and FinTech companies to jointly analyse the industry in Russia, discuss the global trends and determine the main vectors of FinTech development.
