Deli Saavedra

Studied Biology and holds a PhD which focused in the Eurasian Otter.

He is currently Regional Manager of Rewilding Europe. He has worked as a consultant during the last twenty-five years, coordinating the reintroduction of endangered species (black vulture, Eurasian otter) and the planning and management of protected areas. He has collaborated and researched on protected areas planning (Costa Rica, Hungary), private conservation (Venezuela, Australia) and endangered species (Poland, Morocco, Ethiopia). He has written a book about the reintroduction of the Otter in Catalonia and another one about biodiversity of northern Ethiopia. He is the president of Sol Solidari Foundation (environmental cooperation in Africa) and member of the Reintroductions Specialist Group of IUCN.

Rewilding Europe aims to make Europe a wilder place, with more space for wild nature, wildlife and natural processes, showing at the same time that rewilding can generate new business opportunities, jobs and income for rural economies, which are often associated with declining economic productivity and land abandonment. Rewilding is about reconnecting our modern society with wilder nature.
